My name is Alison Mary Jones (nee Ceney) and I was born on 10 May 1967.
I have always been curious about my past. I think most people are. It was only around the year 2000 that I decided to explore who my Ancestors really were. First of all I found out from my parents who their Parents were. This was the easy part and might have been easier had my Grandparents still been alive so I could ask them lots of questions. My oldest relatives are my Aunty Ivy and Uncle Jack, so I have found out quite a lot from them.
To reinforce my knowledge and prove that family members have existed, I have gathered together Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates in the Portfolio that I have created. Also a lot of old photographs.
I have found the Internet a useful source of information. Subscribing to www.ancestry.co.uk has enable me to make some interesting discoveries. It was through this website that I made contact with a member of my family Josephine. Her Grandfather was my Great Grandfather's brother. We keep in touch via email. I also received communication from an elderly lady in the US called Florence. She is into genealogy in a very big way and has sent me some valuable information to add to the Ceney Family Tree. Her Great Grandfather was a Son of my Great Great Great Grandparents.
More recently I have had contact with Pam Nixon from the US and also another lady by the name of Gayle
Every day something new can be found in my persistent search to find every missing piece of the jigsaw.
I have Family Tree software for my computer, that has enabled me to record dates etc. After keying in all the information I know, this has had the ability of creating a Family Tree, therefore making it easy for me to see exactly where I am in my family in relation to all the other members.
Hello Alison, My paternal grandmother warned me about shaking my families trees too hard, in case the nuts fell and hurt me, so farI have been lucky, but I have hardly barked my knees yet, let alone get to the good sapwood. Your intro is a fine motivator that anything is possible when you look hard enough. Finding someone that is related through 5 generations and how many removals...truley remarkable!! Thanks again for introducing me to your site, and a hobby/passion that I had forgotten about for a few years, as my life was passing me by. Your Friend, Rob
