Ali, what a great idea! My Ceney connection is through my great-grandmother, Lucy Ceney, daughter of Thomas and Amy Butler Ceney. Lucy was born in 1869 in Tipton, England and married Archibald Malcolm McIntyre in October 1888 in Canonsburg, Washington County, Pennsylvania. Thomas and Amy immigrated with the family around 1885 to Carnegie, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. I live only about 15 miles from where Thomas and Amy Ceney had their farm in Whiskey Hollow. I have a good bit of information and documents on this Ceney line and am willing to exchange info and records with other Ceney family members. Pam Nixon

Hia Pam, how exciting that you have joined and posted on this website. I don't know why I never thought of this before. It was my brother who told me about it. If you can get other family members to join and post messages, this will be really good.
I have more to post which I will do so later.
A x

Thomas (who married Amy) was the brother of my Gt Gt Grandfather.
I have been forwarded photos of them from the US. I feel like I have heard such a lot about them, that they have come to life for me.
It's wonderful how someone from so long ago can still be remembered.
Do you know where in Scotland your great grandmother Lucy's husband Archibald was from Pam?

Hi
My father-in-law Derek Ceney is the g. g. grandson of Charles Ceney, whose brother Thomas Ceney and wife Amy Marie Butler emigrated to USA. I'd love to find out more about this branch of my family tree. My father-in-law is now 74 and has very little knowledge about this branch. I'd love to be able to fill him in.

As you probably know Thomas and Charles were two of 12 children which I have listed already. Robert, Lucy, Richard, Hannah, John, Joseph, Samuel, Sarah and Annie.
Thomas Ceney emigrated to the US in 1885. He was recorded as the first Ceney to appear in the United States. His wife Amy emigrated in 1885.
Thomas and Charles parents were Robert Seaney(Senay or Ceney) and Lucy Hamlet (or Hamilton) They were married on 8 March 1846 in Sedgley, West Midlands. Their Grandparents were Robert and Ann (or Nancy)
Is this helpful to you Lynn?? Let me know your thoughts. If you need further information please let me know. You may be able to tell me a few things too.

Hia again Lynn
Charles Ceney (your father in law Derek's Gt Gt Grandfather) was married to Susannah. They had 4 children which I have listed.... John, Charles, Thomas and William. I have the approx years of when they were born. Would it be possible to provide me with the dates. And the dates of when they died. I will confirm this information by looking it up on www.ancestry.com John apparently married a Sarah J but I dont have any other info apart from this, so if you can fill me in on more details (email it to me if you prefer) that would be very helpful, thank you

Hi Alison
Thanks for your information. I must admit I have found a lot of information for myself using the internet, particularly ancestry and the public members' trees. So I have as much information about the Ceneys as you have offered, so far. I'm also in contact with Frank Ceney, who has emailed to say he will send all the information he has ... How exciting - I hope there are some photos too.
My father-in-law's father John Ceney (1906) also liked to roam, it appears to be a family trait. He didn't go to America, but as a child my father-in-law travelled around England to satisfy his father's need to travel. Thankfully, they came back to Dudley to live.
Look forward to sharing more as I find it. Lynn
